If you watched the movie JOKER, you will definitely remember the scene with Joaquin Phoenix dancing on that staircase. That is the inspiration for this song. That, and a song prompt that read, "Secret Decoder Ring."
I just kept picturing him, dancing through his own madness, dancing through his childhood secrets and agony and dancing toward becoming the self empowered (and tragically evil) adult that he is now. It broke my heart a little and I wanted to preserve that feeling in my mind through song. So many of us carry deep, dark secrets that do more and more damage the longer we hold on. However, letting go can sometimes unleash an emotional cyclone that can tear your world apart before you can start to put it back together.
