about

In 2019 Noëlle received a call from The House of Songs in Austin to co-write with an artist from Finland, Sirja Puurtinen. The House of Songs invites songwriters from around the world to the United States to share the universal language of music in collaborations designed to bridge cultures, build friendships and cultivate peace. The women met at the house and spent an afternoon getting to know each other and diving into a song. “We had an idea to write a love song to creativity, the process of writing. It’s the only relationship in our lives that we know is infinite. The process is imperfect and beautiful, just like us. We shine through each song, connecting more of ourselves and hopefully to music fans as well.” says Noëlle. Beginning with a melody Noëlle had created on the Minilogue synth, they hashed out the idea, Sirja feverishly typing on her laptop to translate her thoughts from Finnish to English and jumping up on the piano to move through chord variations. “There was an immediate sisterhood between us. You can’t force that. It was just meant to be that we met and wrote together. We are so proud of the way it came out. It turned into a sensual, universal love song.” Noëlle and André are also working on a music video for the song which will include footage from Sirja in Finland.

lyrics

I Lose Myself © 2019 Noelle Hampton/Sirja Puurtinen

I am a traveler, you’re my direction
I am a live wire, you’re my connection
Breathe you, feel you, steal you, all your affection
When I’m invisible, you’re my reflection

When I lose myself in you
I become an animal
Like a word you hold me to
I know I am accountable

In this infinite love
I am a spirit in the sun
And a river that will run
Until it’s all been said and done
In this infinite love
We slowly find our way
And become the words we say
In this infinite love

I know that we’re not perfect
But baby we’ve got timing
We move all the stars around
Until they are aligning
Break me wide open, it’s a divine thing
It’s a divine thing, it’s a divine thing

When I lose myself in you
I become an animal
Like a word you hold me to
I know I am accountable

In this infinite love
I am a spirit in the sun
And a river that will run
Until it’s all been said and done
In this infinite love
We slowly find our way
And become the words we say
In this infinite love
